Final Fantasy Tactics fans can rejoice as Square Enix has announced a new Tactics for the DS. The new tactics will be titled Final Fantasy Tactics A2 Fuuketsu no Guurimore. Japanese media have reported the title to be a sequel to Final Fantasy Tactics Advance.
Square had already announced Final Fantasy XII Revnant Wings and a port of the original Final Fantasy Tactics for release next year.

Detroit Tigers pitcher Joel Zumaya missed three games in the American League Championship Series this past October for forearm inflammation which has been discovered to be the result of playing Guitar Hero according to The Detroit Free Press.

Many at the time suspected the injury to simply be the result of the wear and tear of the season. Trainers, however, were reportedly confused as the injury did not appear to be the result of a pitching motion but that of playing a guitar. The team quickly realized Zumaya’s addiction to Guitar Hero was the cause and asked him to stop playing the game which resulted in him pitching without pain in the World Series.

Acclaimed director Kevin Smith (Clerks, Dogma) expressed an interest in doing a game feature his beloved Jay and Silent Bob characters in an interview with Yahoo! Games.
“‘I’m really not good enough to pull it off,’ said Smith. ‘Games is one field that I like to be entertained, rather than try to be entertaining. For years, people have been telling me to do a Jay and Silent Bob game. I’d be all for it, but I’m just not the guy to do it. I’d be happy to write the back story for the game, but when it comes to what are the levels and challenges and bosses and things like that, I’m so not good at coming up with that kind of stuff. It’d be nice if someone came out with a Jay and Silent Bob game. I’d play it in a heartbeat.’”

The Producers Guild of America announced Will Wright, creator of the Sim City and Sims franchises and the upcoming Spore, will receive its 2007 Vanguard Award. Wright will be the first game designer to receive the award which honors outstanding achievements
in the new media and technology.
“The PGA’s decision to honor a game designer is a big moment for game designers such as myself, and those who would like to follow in our footsteps,” Wright said. “The PGA is signaling that games are an integral part of the entertainment industry, and an art form worthy of recognition.”

The awards ceremony will be presented Saturday, January 20th at the Century Plaza.

D.A. Meets with States Lawyers to Discuss Deputy Indictment

Ben David, district attorney of New Hanover County, met with senior state lawyers in Raleigh in the special prosecutions section of the North Carolina Attorney General’s Office today, a day after a second-degree murder indictment was rescinded against a sheriff’s deputy accused of shooting an unarmed teenager suspected of stealing Playstation 3 units.

Department of Justice spokeswoman Noelle Talley said the conversations were about the ongoing criminal investigation.

On Monday, the district attorney announced former sheriff’s deputy Christopher Long had been indicted for second-degree murder. During a court hearing later that day, David said Long had opened fire as police raided the home of Peyton Strickland, 18, whom was believed by police to have stolen two PS3 consoles with two others in Wilmington.

On Tuesday, the grand jury foreman told Superior Court Judge Ernest Fullwood that he mistakenly checked the wrong box on the indictment form.

Michael McGuinness, Long’s attorney, claimed no need to revisit the indictment because Long fired his weapon in the proper course of his duty.

Clinton, Lieberman, ESRB Join Forces

Longtime violent video game watchdogs Sens. Hillary Rodham Clinton and Joe Lieberman are supporting a Entertainment Software Rating Board public-service announcement campaign to raise parental awareness about video game ratings. The four PSAs are being sent to over 800 cable and broadcast stations.

Lieberman said, “Ultimately, this is about parents exercising some responsibility.”

New England Video Game Thefts Linked?

Police believe the theft of more than $20,000 in video game consoles and games from a Hooksett, N.H. store may be linked to a string of burglaries across New England.

“When you watch the video, you’ll see these guys know exactly what they’re doing,” Lt. Paul Cecilio said. “These guys are highly organized, which only means they’re going to hit again.”

The late Sunday burglary resemble thefts in two other New Hampshire cities as well as burglaries in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. The thieves have been targeting Xbox Box 360 and Playstation 3 consoles and games.

The November released wireless headset for the 360 has had many reported problems of cutting out in some games and and with interference. So on Gamerscoreblog.com, a blog operated by Mircosoft the following message was posted:

Sony Computer Entertainment America Inc. has officially made the pretty well predictable announcement of MLB 07: The Show, scheduled to release Spring 2007 for the PS3, PS2, and PSP.

As the name implies, the Road to the Show mode will return allowing fans to create a rookie and solely control him in an effort to rise through the rank to be a MLB starter. The game will fast-forward to at-bats and defensive plays involving your player in an attempt to fashion an experience from the point-of-view of the gamer’s creation.
New game features will include Online League Play, which allows the set up leagues with up to 30 teams, complete statistical tracking, point benefits and full customization. Gamers will also be able to utilize the My Sliders feature allows users to create their perfect game settings and upload them to the MLB 07: The Show server for others to try out.

Other features announced include Adaptive Pitching Intelligence in which the catcher calls the pitches and players can decide to trust a catcher’s call or shake it off for their own choice, the Pitch Command System offering set pitch comfort level based on a best to worst pitch scenario, Umpire personalities in strike zones and tendencies change with different umpires that may be calling a game, the ability to details different pitch grips and arm angles for pitches, and fo course the obligatory Career and Season Modes, Career Spotlight and Exhibition Mode. The PS2 version will also see the return of Rivalry Mode, King of the Diamond Mode, Franchise mode, the Home Run Derby and EyeToy(TM) functionality.
